November 13, 2023: Three Procopio attorneys and one senior executive were named to the 2023 SD 500 list of Most Influential Business Leaders in San Diego by the San Diego Business Journal. Managing Partner John Alessio, Partners Bill Eigner and Jeff Morton, and Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer Kevin Wilson were recognized alongside other distinguished professionals across the San Diego metropolitan area.

John has served as Procopio’s Managing Partner since January 2018. He focuses on complex class action, business and employment litigation with particular experience in trade secret misappropriation, unfair competition, real estate, shareholder and contractual disputes to include cross-border issues. John has achieved great results for clients of all sizes in civil trials, arbitrations and mediations. He has been recognized as a top litigator by Super Lawyers® since 2012 and by Best Lawyers® since 2016. This is his seventh straight SD 500 recognition.

Bill counsels clients in venture capital, angel financing, seed capital and financing, governing, operating, buying, selling and merging (M&A) of growing technology and other businesses. He focuses on corporate and business transactions, including matters relating to software, telecommunications, e-commerce, cybersecurity, energy, clean technology, life sciences, corporate governance, franchising, employment and independent contractor issues. He is recognized by Best Lawyers® for Corporate Governance Law, Corporate Law, Mergers & Acquisitions, and earlier this year was named a Leader of Influence in the Law by the San Diego Business Journal. This is his eighth straight SD 500 recognition.

Jeff leads Procopio’s Life Sciences practice and co-leads its Licensing and Technology Transactions practice. He provides strategic intellectual property advice, including patent prosecution, and related transactional support for emerging and mature companies in a wide variety of industries, with a particular focus on life sciences and medical technologies. A PhD immunologist, he has extensive patent experience in technologies including genomics, immunology, and gene editing technologies, and advises on complex freedom-to-operate life sciences issues. He is recognized by Best Lawyers® for Biotechnology and Life Sciences, is a WIPR Intellectual Property Leader, is on both the IAM Strategy 300 and Patent 1000 lists, and earlier this year was named a Leader of Influence in the Law by the San Diego Business Journal. This is his third straight SD 500 recognition.

Kevin directs Procopio’s external marketing and business development operations, focusing on ensuring the firm’s clients receive a first-class legal service experience. He engages with general counsel and executives in a range of industries, including life sciences, technology, hospitality, finance, real estate and construction, in both privately and publicly traded companies as well as public agencies. Kevin coordinates with Procopio’s attorneys to ensure their legal services and experience are known to current and future clients. He has an MBA in Strategy and Finance from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and brings Procopio extensive experience in marketing, sales and business development for law firms and other businesses.
