June 30 – Chambers and Partners has recognized Procopio Partner Kerry Patterson and the practice group she leads, Native American Law, in the 2025 Chambers USA Guide. This is the first year Kerry and the Native American practice group has been recognized.
Chambers is a highly respected global research company that has been ranking attorneys and law firm legal practices for more than thirty years. Each year more than 200 researchers conduct more than 285,000 interviews and surveys of attorneys and law firm clients. Through this research, Kerry was recognized in California, although she also has an active practice in Arizona.
Kerry focuses on gaming, commercial transactions, leasing, finance and economic development in Indian country, and has developed gaming projects and negotiated tribal-state gaming compacts in several jurisdictions. She leads lease negotiations and resolves environmental conflicts, and has extensive experience engaging with state and federal governments on behalf of clients, whose interests include gaming ordinances, financings, development and management agreements, land into trust and Indian lands determinations. Kerry is an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians. Along with her Chambers accolade, she is recognized by Best Lawyers for Gaming Law, Native American Law, and Real Estate Law.
Procopio’s Native American Law attorneys recognize that Native American tribal governments hold a unique legal status in the United States, including principles of tribal sovereignty, immunity, and self-governance. They represent tribal governments, tribal corporations, inter-tribal organizations and tribal-affiliated clients in a wide range of legal matters and protect tribal interests in state, federal and tribal courts. They are keenly aware that managing litigation for tribal governments and businesses is quite distinct from representing standard corporate clients. This is particularly true where a tribal government has a well-developed legal infrastructure that helps drive, regulate and coordinate its business activities. The complexity increases when dealing with non-tribal business partners and contractors. Our experienced trial and appellate litigation attorneys have represented clients in numerous tribal, state and federal courts, including in a landmark victory before the U.S. Supreme Court.
Procopio’s Construction Law practice and Partner Craig Ramseyer were also recognized in 2025, as previously noted. It was Craig’s third consecutive year he received recognition, and the eleventh straight year for the practice group.
