Congratulations to client and DNA data storage industry leader Biomemory on its asset acquisition of industry pioneer Catalog Technologies. The deal creates a unique combination of technology, expertise, hardware and intellectual property under one roof. Biomemory, founded in 2021 from research work in Sorbonne University and CNRS French National Labs, now moves beyond Paris with a newly opened flagship office in Boston, the city where Catalog Technologies was based.
The transaction was conducted by Procopio Partner William Eigner and Life Sciences Co-Leader and Partner Xiaofan “Frank” Yang, PhD. “On Nov 8th 2025,” said Biomemory VP Industrialization & Partnerships Olivier Lauvray, “I sent a message to William Eigner, asking if Procopio could help Biomemory in a new asset acquisition project. In less than 24 hours we synced up and started with Frank and Bill. Very rapidly the matter extended beyond the original scope, in various domains, from Corporate to Taxes, immigration or labor.” Lauvray noted that it took less than 3 months to acquire all the targeted assets; set up a U.S. entity; secure a lease with all the required insurance policies; establish payroll and benefits; and hire five employees.
“I think this is quite good in terms of cycle time,” Lauvray said. “All of this would not have been possible without the efficient support of the Procopio team. This is the beginning of the U.S. journey for Biomemory, and we hope the beginning of a long partnership with Procopio.”
From the Biomemory press release: “Beyond technology alignment, the acquisition brings an unmatched set of opportunities to accelerate the delivery of enterprise-grade secure DNA Data Storage and Computing solutions. Capitalizing on its patented method for the volume production of biosafe DNA and enzymatic consumables, Biomemory can ensure a competitive operating cost (OpEx). Its modular IT-friendly architecture and ISO-like qualification protocol can rapidly adapt to the acquired technology, software and equipment, providing a significant time-to-market pull and capex-efficient solutions for customers.”
