San Diego, CA (October 8, 2026) – Intellectual property attorney Seyoung Cheon has joined Procopio as a Partner in its Chambers-recognized California Patent Prosecution practice, expanding the firm’s capabilities in sophisticated technologies and its work with clients across the Asia Pacific region. She will be based in Procopio’s Del Mar Heights, California, office.
Seyoung brings more than two decades of intellectual property experience spanning the United States and Korea. With a background in electrical engineering, she advises U.S. and international companies across the patent life cycle, including patent prosecution and portfolio development, post-grant proceedings, licensing, due diligence and enforcement strategy. Her work encompasses semiconductor memory and storage devices, image sensors, wireless telecommunications, digital video processing, computer hardware and software, consumer electronics and medical devices.
“Seyoung adds considerable depth to a patent practice that serves innovative companies in California and around the world,” said Procopio Managing Partner Dennis Doucette. “Her technical background, experience in both the U.S. and Korea, and ability to help clients manage intellectual property across borders are particularly valuable as we continue to grow in California and expand our Asia Pacific practice.”
Fluent in Korean, Seyoung practiced for more than nine years as a Korean Patent Attorney at leading law firms in Seoul, where she handled patent prosecution, invalidation proceedings and patent infringement matters. She now routinely advises multinational and domestic companies on U.S. intellectual property matters and cross-border IP strategy. Her practice also includes helping innovative startups entering the U.S. market develop intellectual property portfolios that support their growth.
