Two Procopio Partners Elected to the California Lawyers Association Board of Representatives

June 14, 2021 (San Diego): Procopio Partners Michele B. Brown and Enrique Hernández-Pulido have been elected to the California Lawyers Association Board of Representatives for a two-year term. Their Representative positions were confirmed in a vote held Friday, June 11, by the incumbent Board of Directors. Brown will represent the CLA’s Family Law Section and is co-Chair of the Governmental Affairs Committee (GAC) and Hernández-Pulido will represent the International Law and Immigration Section.

For Brown, this is her third term as a Representative on the CLA Board as the Family Law Section representative and co-chair of the GAC. Brown was a member of the inaugural Board of Representatives for CLA and assisted in its formation as the Sections separated from the State Bar of California, creating the largest bar association in the state and the second largest in the US—second only to the ABA.

While this is Hernández-Pulido’s first term as a CLA Representative, he previously was chair of the International Law Section and of the International Tax Committee of the Tax Section of the California State Bar.Brown leads Procopio’s Family Law group and focuses her practice exclusively on family law.  Brown is also the President of the Association of Certified Family Law Specialists and the Immediate Past President of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.  Since 2002, Michele has been a Certified Family Law Specialist, certified by the State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization. She is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, Southern District of California. Michele handles dissolution of marriage, legal separation and annulment actions, paternity, custody, move-away/relocation cases, grandparent visitation rights, post judgment support, set aside and enforcement matters, the preparation or review of pre-marital and post-marital agreements and domestic violence restraining order cases. Brown also acts as a neutral mediator, as well as represents clients in mediation.

Hernández-Pulido’s legal practice includes representing clients in international tax planning and related international matters, particularly Mexican and U.S.-Mexican legal matters. Hernández-Pulido represents clients in the development of business transactions, worldwide investment and financing structures, planning for worldwide income and estate and inheritance taxes. He is licensed to practice in California and Mexico. He serves on Procopio’s Management Committee, leads its Latin America – U.S. Cross-Border Practice Group, and is a co-leader of its Beer, Wine and Spirits Practice Group.
