January 9, 2020 (San Diego) – Six Procopio attorneys in our San Diego, Del Mar Heights and Silicon Valley offices have been elevated to Partner as the firm enters 2020. Amy S. Cannon, Raymond K. Chan, Ernest Huang, Victor Sai, Sean M. Sullivan and Raúl Villarreal Garza are the latest to assume this role at our full-service corporate and litigation law firm, ranked in the Top Ten among AmLaw 200 firms for Attorney Diversity.

Amy S. Cannon is a member of our Real Estate practice in our San Diego office. She focuses on real estate financing (including mezzanine financing and commercial mortgage lending), real estate purchase and sale, commercial leasing (including ground leases), easements, licenses, and related business matters. Amy’s experience includes representation of lenders, developers and owners of shopping centers, commercial and industrial office buildings, multi-family projects and residential subdivisions, commercial tenants and landlords, and property managers. She earned her law degree from Tulane University Law School summa com laude with the Order of the Coif and the recipient of the school’s Faculty Medal for graduating first in her class, and earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley.

Raymond K. Chan is an intellectual property attorney in our Del Mar Heights office. He counsels clients in all aspects of patent litigation, counseling and prosecution. Raymond’s practice focuses on the biotechnology, chemical engineering, computer, consumer products and automotive industries. He is experienced in managing design patent and trade dress litigation, patents on flame retardant product litigation and global chemical products. Raymond speaks Cantonese and Mandarin, and is active in our Asia-Pacific Cross-Border practice. He has as a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles, and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Ernest Huang is an intellectual property attorney in our Silicon Valley office. He counsels clients in patent prosecution and counseling, and intellectual property counseling. Ernest’s practice focuses on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in a broad range of technology areas in the electrical, mechanical and computer arts. He has extensive experience prosecuting applications directed to semiconductor manufacturing and design, digital circuit design, storage systems, IoT systems, cloud and SAAS systems, machine learning, connectors, printed circuit board design and storage media. He is a board member and legal advisor for the Silicon Valley Taiwanese American Industrial Technology Association, speaks Mandarin and Japanese, and is active in our Asia-Pacific Cross-Border practice. He earned his law degree at the University of Toledo College of Law and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Victor Sai is an intellectual property attorney in our Del Mar Heights office. He counsels clients on intellectual property litigation. Victor’s practice focuses on litigating complex intellectual property cases before the International Trade Commission (ITC) and U.S. District Courts. Victor speaks Mandarin, Taiwanese and Japanese, and is licensed to practice in New Mexico. He earned his J.D. from the University of La Verne and a B.S. in Anthropology from the University of California, Riverside.

Sean M. Sullivan is a litigator in our San Diego office. He represents businesses and people in a variety of matters, including as to intellectual property rights (trademarks, copyrights, patents, and trade secrets), contracts, partnership and business management disputes, unfair competition, and class actions. Sean also has extensive experience in maritime matters, litigating cases involving injuries suffered aboard seagoing vessels, and in cases involving environmental issues. He is experienced in all phases of litigation, from pre-lawsuit investigations through trial and appeal. Sean is admitted to practice in California and Washington state courts, as well as the United States District Courts for the Southern, Central, Eastern, and Northern Districts of California, the Western District of Washington, the Eastern District of Texas, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He earned both a B.A. in Biology and a J.D. from the University of San Diego. Prior to attending law school, Sean worked in San Diego’s biotech industry for a start-up that made products for use in immunology and molecular biology research.

Raúl Villarreal Garza is an international tax attorney in our San Diego office. He advises clients on a variety of matters related to international tax law, and is admitted to practice law in California, New York and Mexico. Raúl participates as an international tax advisor to business leaders expanding their foreign operations into the United States.  He has extensive experience counseling families with multiple nationalities on their international estate planning needs.  Raúl is a trusted advisor to family offices in a wide range of tax and legal issues, and speaks Spanish and Italian. He is an adjunct professor of international estate planning at the University of San Diego School of Law and the Chair of the International Tax Committee, Taxation Section for the California Lawyers Association (formerly the State Bar of California). He holds an LL.M. degree in International Taxation from New York University School of Law, an Law Degree from Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, México, and a Master Degree in Taxation from Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León.
