Melissa Freeling

Melissa represents property owners, developers and investors in construction and real estate disputes, with a focus on complex construction defect litigation involving large-scale commercial properties. She has represented institutional multifamily owners and developers, property management companies, national data centers and owners of specialized facilities in disputes involving construction defects, delays, contract claims and warranty issues.

She handles matters from initial investigation through discovery, depositions, mediation, settlement negotiations and trial preparation. She works closely with forensic engineers, architects, project managers and other technical professionals to investigate claims, develop litigation strategy, and address issues involving project plans, construction schedules, RFIs and other technical documentation. Her experience includes conducting and defending depositions of construction professionals, project managers, technical experts and design professionals.

Melissa approaches litigation with an understanding of the operational and financial concerns surrounding major real estate projects. She has served as a primary client contact on complex matters, providing case budgets, risk assessments and executive reporting while coordinating with clients and opposing parties to move disputes toward resolution and limit disruption to construction and facility operations.
