Our support for companies runs deep.

At Procopio, we’re committed to our clients’ corporate growth. Our Procopio Business Advisors (PBA) subsidiary assists startups and mid-sized companies with many non-legal services, from our LaunchPad incubator to tailored strategic consulting.

Procopio Business Advisors (PBA), a wholly owned subsidiary of Procopio, provides a wide range of value-add non-legal services to corporate clients, including incubator, finance, risk assessment, governance, and mergers and acquisitions.

PBA is led by highly accomplished life science and healthcare industry leader Kenneth Weixel, the former Managing Partner of the San Diego, California, office of Deloitte LLP.

PBA’s offerings include the LaunchPad incubator, housed in Procopio’s Del Mar Heights office, the heart of San Diego’s innovation community. Since 2012, a select group of carefully chosen entrepreneurs have begun the formation, protection of core technology, early funding and growth of their companies in our LaunchPad incubator.

PBA leader Ken Weixel brings decades of experience working with companies of all sizes and in all stages of growth as a trusted advisor on corporate governance, effective controls, mergers and acquisitions and transparent financial reporting. Formerly the Managing Partner of the San Diego, California, office of Deloitte LLC, Ken advises and assists Procopio’s expanding Life Sciences team, working with the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions team in providing strategic guidance throughout California.

Under Ken’s leadership, Deloitte grew to become the largest accounting firm in San Diego, with a specific focus on the life sciences and healthcare industries. He’s worked with leading private equity and venture capital firms, and has held many leadership positions, including service on the Board of Directors of Biocom.

“PBA’s coaching was instrumental in the fine-tuning of our business model. We’re a science intensive company, and PBA’s guidance allowed us to more effectively communicate our story to both investors and scientists. It is thanks to strategic advice provided by PBA that our pitch has been so well received.” — Mark Wilson, MatriSys Bioscience Co-founder and CEO

“PBA’s team of strategic thinkers brings a wealth of experience guiding and mentoring early stage companies through the formative stages of business plan development, validation and funding. One of their most valuable contributions is to tap into a broad network of experienced entrepreneurs and early stage financial and marketing professionals. They rally these experts to come together to critique, provide feedback and offer insights for constructing a truly market-ready business strategy.” — Tim Miller, president MAGMA (Mission Technology Group, Inc.)

“Launching any startup is hard work. Besides the compelling idea, you need capital, dedication, laser sharp focus and the right team. Procopio’s LaunchPad provides the all-important incubation ingredient to a startup whereby great legal minds are available to help and advise in all key aspects, such as fundraising structure, patent strategy and software compliance. Besides the legal advice, RealStir felt at home at the beautiful space with great support and encouragement. I highly recommend Procopio’s LaunchPad to any startup who needs that extra lift to take it to the next level.” — Walid Romaya, CEO of RealStir (Real Estate on Demand)

“Our time in Procopio’s LaunchPad incubator was just what we needed to get our company up and running. The attorneys allowed us the freedom to do our thing without interference But they were also always open to a legal consultation on short notice in an unscheduled sync in one of their offices. Knowing top-flight corporate attorneys were right down the hall allowed us to focus our time and effort on building our business. We can definitely trace our current success back to our time in Procopio’s LaunchPad.” — Dave Twinning, Chief Operating Officer, Planck Aerosystems
