December 19, 2023 (San Diego) – Varun Bahl, a senior finance strategy professional with significant law firm leadership experience, has joined Procopio as its CFO. He brings to Procopio’s Accounting & Finance Department an extensive background helping law firms grow profitability through strategic initiatives across various departments while introducing new KPIs and adopting a culture of inclusiveness, empowerment, and accountability. His educational and professional background includes India, the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States.

Varun has developed his financial strategy skills from both outside law firms and within law firms. While in Toronto, Canada, he served in financial leadership positions at General Motors, Auto Trader, LexisNexis, and Fasken LLP, one of Canada’s largest law firms with about 800 lawyers. In 2019 he joined Wilson Sonsini in its Palo Alto office as Director of Pricing & Legal Project Management, and most recently served as the Chief Operating Officer of Sands Anderson PC, a mid-size law firm in Richmond, Virginia.

His law firm work has focused on initiating profitable growth by instilling best practices to raise attorney productivity through strategic pricing, talent acquisition and talent management, while he has simultaneously implemented tools to automate back-end processes, introduced new metrics and raise efficiencies in Accounting & Finance. He enjoys working with attorneys and legal professionals to develop strategic financial policies tailored across practice areas to raise the level of profitability on legal matters while keeping client costs down.

Varun earned his BCom with Honors in Accounting and Finance from Delhi University in New Delhi, India; his DBA in Business from Cardiff University in Wales, U.K.; and his MBA in Finance Strategy from the Ivey Business School in London, Ontario, Canada.
