Overview
Matthew focuses on family law and litigation, and is a Certified Family Law Specialist, certified by the State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization. His practice includes marital property characterization, valuation and division; spousal and child support; attorney fees; fiduciary duty issues; child custody and visitation, and paternity matters. Matthew also has experience handling prenuptial, postnuptial, and martial settlement agreements.
- Following a three-day trial, obtained a ruling that client successfully traced separate property personal injury settlement proceeds into several properties.
- Defended against an equitable apportionment (“Pereira/Van Camp”) claim, resulting in a ruling that there was no community property interest in client’s business.
- Obtained attorney fee award of $1,000,000, which was upheld on appeal.
- On the morning a three-day trial was set to begin, obtained settlement favorable to client invalidating post-nuptial agreement.
- Following a multi-day trial, obtained court permission for client to move with child to Michigan.
- Following a multi-day trial, successfully defended against a request to set aside a marital dissolution judgment and obtained significant Family Code section 271 sanctions against other party.
- Represented multiple clients in the negotiation and preparation of prenuptial and postnuptial agreements.
- Obtained order awarding client $439,355 in monthly spousal support.
