Fractional Ownership Pioneer Raises Capital to Expand Beyond Horse Racing
Kudos to client and groundbreaking fractional ownership innovator Experiential Squared on raising $7 million in capital to expand its micro-share investment platform. The company’s MyRacehorse allows anyone to purchase a percentage share in a race horse, providing a bragging point that can at times be quite significant; one of its horses won the 2020 Kentucky Derby. Expansion beyond race horsing is now possible with the addition of several investors led by 1/ST (North America’s dominant thoroughbred racing and gaming company) through its 1/ST RACING & GAMING and 1/ST TECHNOLOGY business divisions.
“I’m going to spend most of the energy and the time working with 1/ST to really reimagine what fractional ownership can be,” CEO Michael Behrens told Forbes magazine, noting he’s already had preliminary conversations with NASCAR.
Experiential Squared’s corporate and financing legal services are provided by Emerging Growth & Venture Capital leader Roger Rappoport and its securities work by Capital Markets & Securities leader Christopher Tinen. The company was the first in American horse racing to be certified by the Securities and Exchange Commission to sell securities through crowdfunding, and now has more than 50,000 active owners.
