11:00 AM - 12:15 PM - Employee Medical Leaves and Accommodations in the Era of COVID-19 || Presented by Wendy Tucker

Facilities are one of the major barriers to opening, scaling, and sustaining quality schools. And now, COVID-19 public health orders and guidelines add new constraints and complexity. This breakout session will cover and demystify the major issues around finding and securing facilities, zoning/permitting/occupancy, funding source opportunities and limits, site selection, and getting it all done right by assembling the best team for your school.

4:15 PM - 5:30 PM - Charter Teacher Credentials 101 || Presented by Greta Proctor and Rahul Reddy

AB 1505 changed credentialing requirements for charter school teachers, but also provided new tools for teacher assignments - such as local assignment options - that were only previously available for school districts.

Come join Rahul Reddy and Greta Proctor for a discussion of charter school credentialing requirements and how to handle new monitoring issues. We will discuss recent changes this year regarding the use of local assignment options, grace period for continuing teachers, the role of local authorizers and CTC, resolving CalSAAS exceptions, and strategies for navigating challenging teacher assignments. We will engage attendees and encourage participation by taking questions and providing real-life case studies. Our goal is for attendees to gain useful knowledge and tools to use at their respective schools.
