School teams are invited to join Procopio attorney David Graham as he begins a multi-part special education webinar series for charter school teams in the 2026-27 school year. Like previous years’ sessions, this webinar series will trace the concept of educational benefit, including IEP compliance and best practices, from referral all the way through implementation and into due process.
In Part 1 of this webinar series, held on September 15, 2026, we will focus on the legal and practical issues charter schools should be addressing as students return to school, updated to include trends we’re already seeing in 2026-27. Topics will include: adopting incoming IEPs and 504 Plans; ensuring services begin promptly; managing assessments and pending evaluations; addressing early behavioral and attendance concerns; interim vs. 30-day IEPs; placement considerations; addressing early referrals; and considering, vaccine exemptions. This 60-minute session will provide practical guidance to help charter schools start the year in compliance and identify potential problems before they escalate. This webinar will be beneficial to all faculty who draft and/or implement IEPs or supervise those who do.
This session is ideal for special education directors, administrators, school staff providing IEP services, and case managers.
