SPECIAL EDUCATION ESSENTIALS – Part I: Starting Strong for the New School Year
Schools asked, we listened – Procopio’s three-part SPED webinar series is back and updated for the 2025-26 school year.
You are invited to join Procopio attorney David Graham as he begins a multi-part special education webinar series for charter school teams in the 2025-26 school year. Like last year’s sessions, this webinar series will trace the concept of educational benefit, including IEP compliance and best practices, from referral all the way through implementation and into due process. This year’s series will include trends from the field, new issues, and strategies for success.
The first session of this year’s series on September 3, 2025 will focus on back-to-school issues: adopting incoming IEPs and 504 Plans, adapting IEPs to your educational environment especially for nonclassroom-based schools, drafting interim IEPs, holding 30-day transition meetings, placement considerations, addressing early referrals, and considering vaccine exemptions. We will also cover best practices in amending baselines, goal language, services, and accommodations. David will include special notes about training and onboarding of staff, including engaging your general education staff as part of each student’s IEP team. This session will be beneficial to all faculty who draft and/or implement IEPs or supervise those who do.
Date: September 3, 2025
