They will form the nucleus of Procopio’s new Health Care practice group, adding significant experience and expertise to the firm as well as national clients representing all segments of the health care industry.
Group members represent hospitals, physician groups, HMOs, COHSs, public agencies, medical equipment and device companies and ancillary providers in a wide range of medical staff, licensing and certification, provider operations, and health insurance issues. Their practice also focuses on regulatory and governmental compliance-related matters such as health care false claims and compliance counseling, Medicare and Medicaid-related issues, legislation, and corporate integrity agreements.

Two of the attorneys, George L. (Jody) Root Jr. and Gregory V. (Greg) Moser, have been brought into the firm’s partnership.

Mr. Root was formerly chair of Foley’s Health Law and Regulated Industries Departments and the Health Care Industry Team; original Office Managing Partner of Foley’s San Diego office; and a member of the firm’s Management Committee. Mr. Root represents health care providers throughout the United States and is general counsel to several general acute care and specialty hospitals, medical groups, and health care industry trade associations. He is listed in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Business Lawyers as one of the leading health care attorneys in California and was selected for inclusion in the 2007 edition of The Best Lawyers in America®.
Mr. Moser was managing partner of Foley’s San Diego and Sacramento offices for the past five years and represents public sector clients throughout California, including healthcare districts, school and water districts, and charter schools. He is also general counsel to several public self-insurance pools for general liability, medical malpractice, and workers’ compensation liability.
In addition, former Foley & Lardner attorneys Diane M. Racicot, Celia A. Brewer, Wendy L. Tucker, and Mary K. Norvell have joined Procopio as senior counsel, and Sahyeh S. Fattahi, John C. Lemmo and Alyssa A. (Aiko) Osugi have joined the firm as associates.
