Philip Giacinti, Jr. was honored by the San Diego County Bar Association (SDCBA) with the Community Service Award for his long history of volunteer service at Children's Convalescent Hospital. Over a period of 20 years, he has volunteered his time for a three-hour shift at the hospital before going to work in the morning, assisting the medical staff by offering support to sick children and their families through all stages of illness.
Mary Cataldo chaired the 2005 Law Week Committee of the Bar Association of Northern San Diego County. Under Mary's leadership, the Bar’s Law Week program was selected as one of five national winners of the American Bar Association's 2005 Outstanding Law Day Activities Award. The Outstanding Law Day Activity Award is given by the ABA to programs that have found creative ways of reaching out to schools and the community, and have forged strong partnerships with other groups to deliver the message about the benefits of the rule of law. Mary played an integral role in a highly acclaimed program that hosted more than 1,000 students at Youth In Court Day in both 2005 and 2006 at the Vista Superior Courts.
Dawn Hall Cauthen was honored by the North County Philanthropy Council as a 2005 Volunteer of the Year for her work with the La Jolla Music Society (LJMS). Dawn spearheaded the launch of LJMS North County Concert Series, recruiting an active volunteer core and securing sponsorships for the first three concert seasons. She also organized the first Carlsbad Winter Festival – a series of four concerts showcasing world-class performers in Carlsbad. The Carlsbad mayor recognized the civic initiative with a proclamation declaring January as the month of the Carlsbad Winter Music Festival. Dawn actively continues to raise awareness of the society and its goal to start an instrumental music program for children in the North County.
