San Diego, CA
– The law firm of Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch LLP
has partnered with CONNECT, UC San Diego, Scripps Institution of Oceanography (and its Birch Aquarium at Scripps) and CleanTECH San Diego to host “Ride Clean. Be Cooler. Save the Planet!” on Tuesday, April 14th featuring well-known international author and speaker, John Addison. Addison will discuss his latest book “Save Gas, Save the Planet” and his theme of “Ride Clean. Ride Together. Ride Less.” In addition to hearing the strategies and real-life stories from Addison, attendees can purchase his book, participate in a book signing with Addison and check out the “Ride Clean Car Expo” for all the latest hybrid and electric cars, buses, wakeboats and planes, as well as hybrid drives, retrofitters, fuels, alternative transportation and fuel additives.
”President Obama has announced his commitment to make the U.S. a world leader in building the next generation of clean cars. Few people realize that San Diego has moved to center stage as a “green Detroit” with the Aptera hybrid car, ISE Corporation’s zero emission and hybrid bus drives, Spectrum Aeronautical's light, low emission airplane, EPIC’s electric wakeboat and more,” said Camille Sobrian, Chief Operating Office of CONNECT and a Director of CleanTECH San Diego. “Plus, we are home to a major research and development hub focused around clean fuels. This talk and Expo is a chance to learn about Obama’s planned tax incentives and get up-to-speed on riding clean.”
The Ride Clean Car Expo will feature UC San Diego’s clean vehicles including the latest from Toyota Prius and the Ford Hybrid Escape, Honda’s compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicle (one of the cleanest production internal combustion engine in the world), a ¾-ton service bi-fueled pick-up and a variety of neighborhood electric vehicles (NEVs). In addition, local San Diego innovation companies will be featuring such products as PiHybrid's converted car, Power Genix’s NEV powered by the latest Ni-Zn batteries, Mindspring's very light electric vehicle Zummer, Spectrum Aeronautical's ultra light, low emission aircraft, SDG&E's CNG car and plug-in hybrid vehicle and ICS Corporation's zero emission Winter Olympics bus.
“Procopio is proud to sponsor such an environmentally conscious event,” said John J. Lormon
, the leader of Procopio’s Environmental, Land Use and Governmental Affairs practice group. “This event is not only important to the San Diego cleantech industry, but to the future of our environment. We must embrace the ‘clean car’ technology as an essential part of our environmental plan.”
“Ride Clean. Be Cooler. Save the Planet!” will take place from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Price Center on the UC San Diego campus. The cost to attend the show and presentation is $45 for CONNECT members, $55 for non-members and $15 for students and faculty.
