Partner Enrique Hernandez-Pulido Elected to Procopio Management Committee
March 18, 2019 (San Diego) – Procopio Partner Enrique Hernández-Pulido has been elected by the partnership to join the firm’s Management Committee. He has already assumed his new role, and takes over the position formerly held by Partner Craig P. Sapin.
“Enrique has demonstrated consistent leadership and commitment to the firm during his nearly sixteen years as a valued attorney with Procopio,” said Managing Partner John D. Alessio. “That leadership includes chairing our Latin America – U.S. Cross Border practice and co-leading our Beer, Wine and Spirits Group. We’re fortunate Enrique can now bring his talents and service to our Management Committee.”
Hernández-Pulido’s legal practice includes representing clients in international tax planning and related international matters, particularly Mexican and U.S.-Mexican legal matters. Enrique represents clients in the development of business transactions, worldwide investment and financing structures, planning for worldwide income and estate and inheritance taxes. He is licensed to practice in California and Mexico, and recently was invited to join the Center for U.S. – Mexican Studies (USMEX) Advisory Board at the School of Global Policy and Strategy at the University of California San Diego.
Previously Hernández-Pulido worked for ten years in the Mexican government in the areas of tax, finance and administration, acting as Subprocurador Fiscal de la Federación (Under Fiscal Federal General Attorney) in charge of consultation and legislative issues, Director General Jurídico (Legal General Director) of IPAB (Mexico’s Bank Deposit Insurance Federal Authority) and Director Jurídico (General Counsel) of FIDELIQ. He has an LLM/ITP (International Taxation and Tax Policy) from Harvard Law School, an LLD from Universidad Iberoamericana, and MBA degrees from the University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business and the Instituto Technológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey.
“I welcome the opportunity to continue serving Procopio in this new role on the firm’s Management Committee,” Hernández-Pulido said. “Now the largest law firm based in San Diego, Procopio has grown during my years here into an AmLaw 200 firm with numerous practice groups and high-caliber attorneys. I’m committed to working with my fellow committee members, our other partners, and everyone at the firm to continue advancing the firm’s growth, particularly our ever-expanding international client service.”
Continuing their service on the Management Committee are Managing Partner John D. Alessio, Partners Michael J. Changaris, John P. Cleary, Marie Burke Kenny, Craig A. Ramseyer, and Chief Operating Officer and Chief Compliance Officer James G. Perkins.
