As Managing Partner, Mr. Turner serves as the firm's chief executive and chairs the Management Committee. Formerly the leader of the firm's Real Estate Team, he actively maintains his broad-based commercial real estate transactional practice, which includes office, industrial, technology, resort, healthcare, residential, retail, and mixed-use projects. He has handled the acquisition, disposition and exchange of extensive income property of all types, and assisted in the planning and development of a wide range of commercial projects. He has also facilitated the transfer of thousands of acres of raw land and addressed extensive related development and environmental issues. Mr. Turner has been involved in forming and advising numerous real estate partnerships and LLC's, negotiating and restructuring various forms of real estate secured financing, and resolving a wide range of real property oriented disputes and loan workouts. He has had a particular emphasis on commercial leasing matters, from the perspective of both landlords and tenants, including some of the largest transactions in the region. He has a strong background in healthcare facilities, including medical office buildings, and high tech, biotech and biomedical, having represented dozens of such companies in their facilities transactions. Mr. Turner was previously a partner in the real estate department of Brobeck, Phleger and Harrison.

Mr. Turner studied law at Oxford University in England and graduated from Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California, Berkeley. He received his B.A., with honors, from University of California, Los Angeles, and has practiced law in San Diego since 1982. Mr. Turner has been selected for inclusion in the Southern California Super Lawyers® - San Diego list for Real Estate every year since the inception of publication in San Diego. He is an AV rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell. Additionally, the Los Angeles Daily Journal selected Mr. Turner as the 2012 “Law Firm Leader of the Year” in recognition of his leadership role in growing Procopio into the dominant San Diego law firm.
Mr. Turner has long been active in the San Diego community. He serves as Chair of the National Conflict Resolution Center, is on the Boards of Directors and the Executive Committees of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties and the San Diego County Taxpayers Association, and serves on the EDC’s Chairman's Competitiveness Counsel, as well as the Board of Governors of the University Club. He has served as the President of numerous local organizations, including the San Diego League, a group of young professionals serving various children’s charities, Home Start, a child abuse prevention and family support agency, and the San Diego County Taxpayers Association, a prominent “fiscal watchdog” organization which promotes efficiency in local government. A recipient of the Wiley Manuel Award for Excellence in pro bono legal services, Mr. Turner has also volunteered as a youth baseball and basketball coach and served on the board of the La Jolla Music Society. He is a member of The Urban Land Institute and the Lawyers Club and in 2010 was honored as a Father of the Year by the American Diabetes Association.
