Lionel “Chip” P. Hernholm, Jr. has joined Procopio as senior counsel. Mr. Hernholm practices primarily in the area of family law, with special emphasis in matters involving complex property characterization, income attribution and tracing issues. He has an extensive background in both business litigation and family law matters, and has represented clients in proceedings throughout California and in Texas, Virginia, Wyoming and New York. Mr. Hernholm earned a B.A. from the University of Virginia in 1968 and received his J.D. from the California Western School of Law in 1975. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Hernholm served as an officer in the United States Marine Corps from 1968 to 1972.
S. Todd Neal also joins the firm as senior counsel. Mr. Neal focuses his practice on complex business litigation matters and the defense of white collar criminal cases. An experienced trial lawyer with more than twenty-five jury trials, Mr. Neal's experience includes courtroom victories on both the plaintiff and defense side of civil cases as well as acquittals in federal criminal cases. He recently obtained a victory in the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals for movie director John McTiernan, of Die Hard and The Hunt for Red October, relating to alleged wiretapping activity by Hollywood investigator Anthony Pellicano. Mr. Neal earned a B.A. from the University of California, Irvine in 1990 and received his J.D. from John Marshall Law School in 1994.
David M. Zachry has joined Procopio as an associate. Mr. Zachry focuses his practice on family law, including complex property characterization, income attribution and tracing issues. He is particularly knowledgeable in handling domestic breach of fiduciary duty claims. Mr. Zachry earned a B.A. in Government and International Studies from the University of Notre Dame in 2001. He received his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2004 and an M.B.A. from the University of San Diego School of Business Administration in 2006.
