High Profile San Diego Labor and Employment Attorney Joins Procopio

San Diego, CA – David B. Geerdes, a prominent attorney with more than 30 years experience advising management on labor, employment and executive agreements, has joined Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch LLP. Geerdes comes to Procopio from Heller Ehrman where he was managing shareholder of the San Diego office for over four years. He joins the Firm’s Business and Technology Team.

“Procopio has worked aggressively to provide a strategic and comprehensive labor and employment solution for the firm's clients, adding four exceptional attorneys over the past eight months,” observed Geerdes. “I look forward to contributing my strengths in negotiating executive agreements and management-oriented counseling and litigation to the team, particularly in the technology sector."

Geerdes is a recognized authority in the area of labor and employment law, representing clients before the NLRB and ALRB in matters of union avoidance, anti-union campaigns, representation and unfair labor practice hearings, election proceedings and campaigns and collective bargaining negotiations and arbitrations. He has represented clients before EEOC, DFEH, OSHA, OFCCP, Department of Education, California Labor Commissioner and the Department of Labor. Mr. Geerdes also has advised clients on all aspects of personnel relations related to reorganizations, reduction in force, discipline, and management of personnel, and counseled clients on strategy and defense of employment litigation of discrimination, wrongful termination and related claims.

Prior to his term at Heller Ehrman, Geerdes was the head of Gray Cary's labor counseling practice, advising clients on all aspects of management organization, business strategies, employee matters, negotiations, litigation strategies and avoidance and has worked with a long list of clients including Qualcomm, The Salk Institute, Sony Electronics, the Scripps Research Institute, Sinclair Oil Company, SunAmerica and numerous biotechnology companies.

Geerdes received his B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles and his law degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. His professional and community activities include: legal advisor to the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee of the Salk Institute of Biological Studies, legal counsel to the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau, and member of the San Diego Commission on Government Efficiency and Restructuring.
