Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch LLP partner Stephen Beuerle helped raise more than $8,000 for San Diego's homeless by sleeping outside as part of the "Sleepless San Diego" event.
Beuerle slept out overnight April 24 at Liberty Station to raise money and awareness for San Diego's 10,000 homeless men, women, and children. Funds raised from "Sleepless in San Diego" will be used to raise awareness of homelessness and also support local nonprofit organizations dedicated to helping the homeless and poor.
"'Sleepless San Diego' was a great event and a rewarding experience," Beuerle said. "I look forward to participating again next year."
Beuerle's fundraising efforts included personally matching all donations made by Procopio employees in addition to the one-to-one match the firm made on those same donations. In less than one week, Beuerle helped Procopio raise more than $8,000 to benefit the cause.
"We are delighted to have partners like Procopio that come out and support 'Sleepless,'" said Herb Johnson, president and chief executive officer for the San Diego Rescue Mission. "'Sleepless' is a yearlong campaign to raise awareness and funding to address homelessness in communities across San Diego. We recognize Procopio's important contribution to this initiative and look forward to their continued participation."
"Sleepless San Diego" is dedicated to building awareness of the current homeless condition among constituent audiences throughout San Diego County with a series of educational materials and activities tied to the "Sleepless San Diego" theme. Through interactive communications, educational materials and events, the initiative seeks to activate the broader population for participation in programs that are solutions to homelessness.
This was the fourth year the sleepout has been held in San Diego.
