Procopio Extends Turner's Managing Partner Term
02.03.2010
The partnership of Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch LLP voted to extend the term of Managing Partner Thomas W. Turner, Jr. through calendar 2012. First elected as managing partner in 2001, Turner serves as the firm’s chief executive and chair of the firm's management committee.
Under his leadership, Procopio has experienced a period of tremendous success and growth. The firm has considerably expanded its practice capabilities with the creation of significant practices in health care, family law, clean tech and the continued expansion of the intellectual property, tax, and technology practices. The firm has doubled its attorneys during his term and revenues have grown more than 130%. Turner also led the efforts and negotiations behind the firm’s May 2010 move to its new, 100,000 plus-square-foot space, located atop 525 B Street.
"Tom earned the well-deserved admiration and respect not only of his partners and peers, but also of every Procopio employee," said Robert Russell, who served as managing partner of Procopio from 1994-1997. "It is a rare leader who is admired and respected by all those he leads, and Tom is beyond doubt that kind of leader. Procopio is indeed fortunate to have such an individual as our Managing Partner."
Formerly the leader of the firm’s real estate team, Turner actively maintains his broad-based commercial real estate transactional practice, which includes all property types, with clients such as SENTRE Partners, TA Associates Realty, Scripps Health, and Bridgepoint Education. Turner has been selected for inclusion in the Southern California Super Lawyers® - San Diego list for Real Estate every year since the inception of publication in San Diego.
In addition to his law practice, Turner is an active member of the community, volunteering for numerous local organizations. He is a member of The Urban Land Institute and the Lawyers Club and has served as President of the San Diego League, Home Start, and the San Diego County Taxpayers Association, volunteered as a youth sports coach, and is a recipient of the Wiley Manuel Award for Excellence in pro bono legal services. He continues to serve on the Executive Committee of the San Diego County Taxpayers Association and National Association of Industrial and Office Properties and is the Chair of the National Conflict Resolution Center.
