How Climate Change Policies Will Affect California Businesses
Guest speaker Cindy Tuck, Undersecretary of the California Environmental Protection Agency, will offer a broad perspective on emerging climate change policies.

- Background regarding international climate change agreements, such as the U.N. Framework Conventions on Climate Change and the Kyoto Protocol

Cindy Tuck
Undersecretary of the California Environmental Protection Agency
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger appointed Cindy Tuck as Undersecretary of the California Environmental Protection Agency (Cal/EPA) in July of 2007. As Undersecretary, Ms. Tuck is chief adviser to the Secretary on all environmental issues. She also oversees the functions and operations of the Office of the Secretary. Ms. Tuck has over two decades of experience in the development and implementation of California’s environmental laws, regulations and programs. She is the Secretary’s voting alternate for the Bay Delta Authority, the Ocean Protection Council, and the Board of Directors for the California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley. Ms. Tuck holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science Degree in Environmental Engineering – both from the University of Illinois. She is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of California. She also holds a Juris Doctorate Degree from McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific and is a member of the State Bar of California.
John J. Lormon, Esq.
Partner, Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch LLP
John J. Lormon is a partner with Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch LLP. He is the leader of Procopio’s Environmental, Land Use and Governmental Affairs practice group and Climate Change and Sustainability practice area. Mr. Lormon has extensive experience working with local and state government regulatory agencies on permitting and private sector businesses in dealing with entitlement, compliance, CEQA and enforcement matters. He has managed numerous Clean Air Act cases involving stationary and mobile sources and has special expertise in air emission impacts to local communities. Currently, Mr. Lormon is a member of the Directors Cabinet for Scripps Institution of Oceanography and co-chair of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography’s Climatae Task Force.
