Program Overview:

Historically, the workplace remained almost entirely unregulated, with employees enjoying few, if any, rights. Today, with the complexity and variety of labor situations that can arise, employment law issues can potentially result in time-consuming and costly administrative complaints, or even lawsuits. In order to minimize the possibility of legal challenges in the workplace, it is imperative to understand the basic employment law responsibilities of an employer. This half-day seminar will provide an overview of basic labor, employment, and benefits issues, including:

  • Limiting exposure through insurance and arbitration procedures
  • Limiting exposure of harassment and wage/hour claims
  • Crafting effective employment documentation HIPAA, FMLA, CFRA, PDL, ADA, ERISA... What are these and do they apply to you?

The seminar will be led by David Wolds, partner and Labor, Employment and Benefits Practice Group Leader at Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch LLP, with informative sessions presented by team members Allison Borkenheim, Laura Riesenberg, and Jeffrey VanderWal.
