Ms. Danz's practice focuses primarily on health care litigation, including medical malpractice and hospital staff privilege issues.
Prior to joining Procopio, Ms. Danz worked for Cosgrove & Birmingham, a small defense firm located in North County San Diego.
Representative Matters
- Represented physicians in medical malpractice actions through arbitration and trial. Cases have ranged through almost every medical specialty and covered issues such as informed consent, standard of care, allegation of sexual harassment and fraud.
- Defended health care professionals such as physicians, nurses and physical therapists in State Board actions.
- Represented medical staffs in pursing disciplinary action against disruptive physicians. Representation included advising medical staffs of measures to be taken short of requiring formal reports to the Medical Board as well as through investigation, notice of charges and Judicial Review Hearings following suspension and revocation of staff privileges.
- Represented physicians involved in Medical Malpractice cases containing allegations of intentional claims such as fraud and misrepresentation. Hired as Independent Counsel to work along side counsel assigned by the physician's insurance to protect the physician against possible personal liability arising from the intentional claims.
Ms. Danz graduated with a B.A. in political science from University of California, Davis, and earned her J.D. from the University of San Diego in 2003. She is currently a Judge Pro-Tem for the San Diego Superior Court where she presides during evening and weekend sessions. Ms. Danz is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association and California Society for Healthcare Attorneys.
