Lionel Hernholm is the head of the firm’s family law practice group. His practice has special emphasis in matters involving complex property characterization, income attribution relative to child and spousal support, and tracing issues. Mr. Hernholm has an extensive background in both business litigation and family law matters, and has represented clients in proceedings throughout California and in Texas, Virginia, Wyoming and New York.
Mr. Hernholm has successfully presented appeals on behalf of his clients in California’s Second and Fourth Appellate Districts. He is admitted to the United States District Courts for the Southern, Eastern, and Central Districts of California, the Southern District of Texas and the Southern District of New York.
Mr. Hernholm earned a B.A. from the University of Virginia in 1968 and received his J.D. from the California Western School of Law in 1975. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Hernholm served as an officer in the United States Marine Corps from 1968 to 1972.
In 2009 and 2010, Mr. Hernholm was selected for inclusion in the Southern California Super Lawyers® - San Diego list for Family Law.
