Mr. Mejia is an attorney licensed in Mexico and California and is a member of the International, Tax, and Clean Tech, Energy and Climate Change Practice Groups. Mr. Mejia focuses his practice in representing clients in international tax planning and related international matters, particularly with business operations involving Mexico and U.S.-Mexican legal matters. He represents clients in the development of business transactions, worldwide investment and financing structures, planning for worldwide income and estate and inheritance taxes.
Mr. Mejia previously practiced in Mexico, where his expertise encompassed representing foreign investors starting and operating businesses in Mexico as well as large Mexican multinational companies. Prior to joining Procopio, Mr. Mejia worked as an attorney in the tax department of the Mexican office of PricewaterhouseCoopers and in the prestigious Mexican tax boutique Ortiz, Sosa, Ysusi y Cía, S.C., where he was in charge of dealing with complex tax matters pertaining to both Mexican and foreign companies and individuals. Likewise, Mr. Mejia worked as an intern in the Mexican firm Martinez, Algaba, Estrella, De Haro y Galvan Duque, S.C. where he was involved with various corporate and financial matters, including the merger & acquisitions of Mexican and foreign multinational companies.
Mr. Mejia received his Mexican law degree (Licenciatura en Derecho) from the acknowledged Universidad Panamericana, Mexico City Campus, in 2002, magna cum laude. Mr. Mejia obtained a LL.M. degree in International Taxation from the New York University School of Law in 2006. Mr. Mejia also holds a Diplôme d'Études Universitaires Français from the Université Jean Moulin in Lyon, France.
