Aiko Yamakawa is a member of Procopio’s Environmental, Land Use and Governmental Affairs, Native American and Health Care Practice Groups. Ms. Yamakawa advises a variety of public and private sector clients regarding environmental, land use and water law issues.
Prior to joining Procopio, Ms. Yamakawa practiced in the area of environmental regulation as an associate at Foley & Lardner LLP. She served as a law clerk for the Hon. Ralph Dau and the Hon. Ernest Hiroshige of the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles, as well as for the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of California, Civil Division. She has also served as a legal extern to the California Department of Water Resources in Sacramento and a summer associate with Baker, Manock & Jensen in Fresno.
Ms. Yamakawa earned her J.D. in 2004 from the University of California, Davis, School of Law, where she was a senior articles editor of Environs, the school’s environmental law and policy journal, and a member of the Order of the Coif. She received her B.A. in history, magna cum laude, in 2001 from the University of California, San Diego.
Ms. Yamakawa has recently contributed to presentations on such topics as the Ralph M. Brown Act and stormwater regulation in California.
